Evidence Based Practice: Core Concepts

This presentation was prepared to instruct nursing students about evidence based practice. The learning objectives are: to define evidence-based practice, to describe the process and outline the steps involved, and then to identify resources to support evidence based nursing practice. The presentation also teaches the elements of the PICO search strategy for finding relevant evidence in the nursing research literature.

Item Writing Workshop for Local Nurses Timely

A three-day Item Writing Workshop, organised by the St. Christopher and Nevis Nurses and Midwives Council in collaboration with the Nursing Education Department of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC), has just concluded in St. Kitts. The purpose was to gather experienced nurses from across the nursing disciplines, and provide them with further training in item writing in order to contribute to the establishment of a regional test item bank for the Regional Examination for Nurse Registration (RENR).
The workshop was described as timely as many changes in the functioning of Regional Nursing Councils and the management of the Regional Examination for Nurse Registration (RENR) is taking place. It is envisaged that the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) will be administering the RENR come October, 2013.
